Student accommodation

629 units of on-campus housing for 1,150 students. JAIST publishes no housing guarantee and no occupancy figure; the Japanese page says only that incoming students are given priority.
¥12,540 a month all-in for a 12.5 m² single room, common-service charge included — 533 rooms. Your own electricity, heating and water are metered on top.
¥14,920 a month all-in for a 41.4-46.9 m² one-bedroom flat for married couples — 33 units, common-service charge included, own utilities metered on top.
¥17,220 a month all-in for a 59.8 m² two-bedroom family flat — 33 units, common-service charge included, own utilities metered on top.
JAIST HOUSE: ¥16,350 a month for a 17.55 m² en-suite single room, plus a refundable ¥40,000 advance payment on entry; water, electricity and gas billed at actual use.
Single rooms have no hot-water supply, and residents sign their own gas contract; only a single-burner ring is permitted, at about ¥5,500. Move-in is April and October.
Off campus, JAIST's own July 2026 list puts Nomi rents at ¥28,000-¥55,000 a month. For Kanazawa it names letting agents but publishes no rents.
