Campus life

Student accommodation

Living on campus is compulsory only until 31 May of the first year; after that it is optional, and moving out is permanent.
Single rooms of 14.3-15.0 m2 at ¥32,000-¥39,000 a month depending on building and floor. There is no common-service charge; rent covers the phone line, campus LAN and weekly linen.
Married student apartments: 18 unfurnished 1DK units at ¥53,000 a month, about ¥58,000 with utilities. Allocated by lottery, roughly 6-10 units a round.
Family housing takes couples with at most two pre-school children. Families with school-age children, or more than two under five, must live off campus.
Budget about ¥5,000 a month more for metered utilities, plus a one-off ¥10,000 move-in fee — so roughly ¥37,000-¥44,000 a month all in (computed).
Off campus, IUJ publishes rents of ¥40,000-¥70,000 a month plus utilities, with move-in costs of about three months' rent.

Campuses and infrastructure

All International University of Japan (IUJ) campuses. Where a programme is taught at a specific campus, its own page says so.

Yamato Campus

Everything IUJ does: both graduate schools, the library and all student housing on one 27,165 m2 site in rural Niigata. Teaching is entirely in English, and almost the whole student body lives on campus. · 777 Kokusai-cho, Minami Uonuma-shi, Niigata 949-7277, Japan

IUJ Tokyo Office

An administrative and research office in Roppongi, shared with GLOCOM. No teaching takes place here — every programme is taught at the Yamato campus in Niigata. · Harks Roppongi Bldg. 2F, 6-15-21 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo 106-0032, Japan

Student support

IUJ's English visa and Certificate of Eligibility page is broken — every link on it returns a 404, so ask the Office of Student Services directly.
A buddy system exists but has no web page of its own, and the tutor scheme is documented only in Japanese.
JICA support is applied for through your own country's JICA office, not through IUJ, and is in principle for serving government staff.
