University overview

The University of Osaka — which adopted that English name in place of "Osaka University" recently — was founded in 1931 as Osaka Imperial University, and counts as its ancestors the Kaitokudo merchant academy of 1724 and the Tekijuku school of Dutch learning of 1838. It teaches eleven undergraduate schools and sixteen graduate schools across Suita, Toyonaka and Minoh in northern Osaka, linked by a free shuttle bus. Its English-taught teaching is almost entirely at master's level and concentrated in the Graduate Schools of Engineering, Engineering Science, Science and Information Science and Technology, with one English-taught undergraduate degree in Human Sciences. Tuition is the same for international students.
